Compatibility & Installation Notes

Check NPT thread size, globe layout and the model-specific pressure-loss chart. The complete family’s flow envelope is not a recommended operating range for every size. Allow room above the valve for bonnet service; an optional PRS-D adds 2 inches to height.

Flush the mainline before installation and follow the flow arrow, with the solenoid on the downstream side. The manual specifies PTFE tape rather than pipe dope and no more than two turns beyond hand tight. Use watertight wiring connectors with a compatible controller.

For flows below 5 GPM or Xerigation applications, install upstream filtration as recommended. Follow the manufacturer’s low-flow flow-control settings. A scrubber and a manual flow-control stem do not substitute for downstream emitter filtration or an automatic pressure regulator.

Is automatic pressure regulation included?

No. The standard valve has manual flow control. A PRS-D pressure-regulating module is a separate optional accessory.

Does the scrubber replace a filter?

No. The PESB scrubber helps clean its internal stainless steel screen. Provide appropriate upstream and downstream filtration for the irrigation design.

Can I use the standard solenoid with a battery controller?

The standard solenoid requires 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Battery-controller use requires a compatible separately selected latching solenoid; Rain Bird limits that configuration to 150 psi.
