Compatibility & Installation Notes

Check the valve assembly, manifold fittings and repair access against both the top and bottom dimensions. PVB Standard and PVB Jumbo are different footprints; a common depth does not make their lids or extensions interchangeable.

Set the enclosure on appropriate support, route pipes through the molded slots without resting the box on the pipe, and keep the lid accessible at final grade. Maintain the intended drainage and service space.

Purple identification does not make water safe or provide backflow protection. Follow the site’s non-potable marking requirements and confirm the required locking hardware for the lid arrangement. Do not install in roadways.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does PVBSTDP include both the box and lid?

Yes. This model is the purple Standard box body with a purple drop-in lid, rather than a lid-only part.

What is the purple color for?

Rain Bird identifies the purple lid for non-potable applications. Use it with the identification required for the actual irrigation system.

Will a Jumbo lid fit this Standard box?

Do not assume it will. Standard and Jumbo have different openings and seating dimensions; choose a model-matched lid or extension.

Is it watertight or rated for roadway traffic?

No watertight or roadway rating is specified for this enclosure. Rain Bird’s technical sheet limits the application to incidental loading and says not to install it in roadways.

Why Buy from Big Frog Supply?

Choose the PVBSTDP when the installation needs purple non-potable identification on both the body and lid, plus the Standard box’s nominal 18-1/4 by 13-inch top opening and 12-inch depth. Its lockable drop-in design and larger opening distinguish it from the compact, non-locking PVBMST; check the actual service space and lock arrangement before ordering.
